Natya Tarangini, is an institute of excellence devoted to the Kuchipudi dance. It’s run by Padma Bhushans Raja and Radha Reddy & Kaushalya since 1967, with the aim of propagating the rich Indian heritage of glorious music and dance tradition.
The cultural scene of India in the past millennium suffered a setback due to various factors, many of them beyond one’s control. However, there was an attempt in the later half of the last century to restore the lost glory. Still, we have to travel a long way in bringing back the culture to its zenith.
Which is why every year, as part of its
endeavor to redefine and rejuvenate our glorious heritage
in the arts, dance and music, Natya Tarangini has been organising
major dance and music festivals titled the Parampara series.
Under the series in 2004 Natyatarangini organized a 4 day
National festival of Music and Dance - “Vaangmayee”
– celebrating the masters of literature which
was inaugurated by the Hon’ble President of India Dr.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
In the September of 2005 a 4 day festival titled “Layaalayam – the abode of rhythm” was organized which featured maestros from the field of Rhythm. This was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Cultural heritage, our most precious treasure, is a fact that Natya Tarangini well understands. This is a legacy that will be our cherished gift to the coming generations. Natya Tarangini started the ‘Parampara’ series as a movement to preserve and enrich the cultural mosaic of our everyday life in 1976 and today we feel pride in the fact that it has largely succeeded in its endeavors.
